Abstract

"Colostrum is rich in antibodies and nutrients that provide passive immunity in calf with the help of immunoglobulins (Ig) and other antibacterial factors. It contains five main constituents — antibodies, WBC, anti-microbials, nutrients and growth factors and is richer in hormones like insulin and prolactin as compared to milk. ‘Immune milk’ is a range of products of the bovine mammary gland that have been tested against human diseases. Immune milk from cows immunized against specific pathogens provides a medium for transfer of passive immunity."
