Abstract

"Hydroponic system is an alternative to the conventional fodder production method where the seeds of grains are used in the sprouted form as cattle feed. Research shows that feeding of hydroponic maize fodder increased the digestibility of the nutrients, milk production and net profit in the lactating cows. Here is the case of an innovative farmer from Wayanad district of Kerala Mr. Jose Naduvalli, who made his own hydroponic system at a lower cost with an automated irrigation system."
